I had my hearing tested on friday. I'm good up to the 8k (human voice) range. They don't test any higher than that because they say it is irrelevant.

I'm getting me some muso plugs made up. Etymotic ER25 or ER15. I haven't decided which ones to get yet. The ER25 have 25db volume cut, so in a club running at 115db, I'll be hearing somewhere around 90db. Using OSHA guidelines, this reduces the exposure time before potential damage from half an hour to 8 hours or more. If I got the ER15s, I will be hearing 100db. At that volume, you only get 2 hours to play with. I guess I better go with the ER25?

PS: Look how small they are!

Why are you worried? You won't hear people making fun of you

who cares... its your hearing... everybody that sees you wearing them that doesnt have them would be jealous and not ohh.. look at that dork.... i certainly have been the jealous one to want to have the funny looking things out of my ears..

i have documented hearing loss b/c the Army tested my hearing regularly and i blamed it on shooting guns but little did they know was that i had my ears checked 3 days after LOL one year and another year 4 days after a club Space outing...

no venue is worse than Space.. hands down.. i went 2 weeks not hearing properly

Nice, mine are similar to that, but clear, not orangey.

They seemed like a waste of money to me at first, but after the first month of usage I realised they were completely worth it...

Not sure what brand, I just went to an audiologist and he made them.

They came from Sydney apparently.

-25db attenuation. It sounds like a lot at first, but if I was to wear them at home, I would still be able to hear people speaking at normal volume.

In a club it's surprisingly easy to hear what people are saying.

edit: (more info)

I've DJed a few house parties with them, and they were more of a hindrance than a help; too soft with them in, too loud out! In a club they are fantastic to DJ with though.

They are quite comfortable, though it takes some getting used to.

Only real problem I have is that if you're an ehem...energetic dancer, they make you heat up very quickly because usually a lot of heat escapes from your ears. Sometimes a club that feels ok at everyone else feels like a sauna to me.

I'd imagine that using them professionally (i.e 5 days a week) could also leave you very susceptible to ear infections, as bacteria accumulates in your ears at some ridiculous level like 300 times the norm per hour when you wear plugs/bud earphones.
