that is exactly Ishkur's point if you didn't read. BT is such a perfectionist that his music ceases to be organic and creative. I don't completely agree but it is a good point.

Probably the same way that you could have read a whole article and completely missed the point.

Writing music from code doesn't make it good music.

That's the whole point of the article; that BT focusses far too much on production techniques and spending hours at his computer than working on the actual compositions themselves.

I'd like to see him try to defend Daft Punk's uber sampling in Harder Better Faster Stronger, and the sidechain in One More Time. I LOVE ths songs, but he'll just contradict himself.

Yeah but he's like Maddox, and we all know Maddox doesn't believe half the stuff he says. He just says it because it is funny.

Going back and reading Ishkur's site, I got a kick out of T-1000 vs. T-1000, article. Last part about The Lord Of The Rings got me laughing pretty good.

I agree that beeing a master in producing doesn't mean one or the other when it comes to creativity, and creativity is a diffuse word so it's hard to really make valid points on who's creative or not. Saying one is too focused on production technology, doesn't mean that it's not room for creativity in that field. Perhaps this is just from a melodical point of view? Not sure if i got all the arguments correct.

Don't think everyone will agree that creativity can't be thought though. I'm sure alot study art here and knows more than me, but it's alot about learning to "express" yourself. Perhaps it's there all along, but that doesn't mean it will ever see the open.

I honestly disagree with Ishkur on the whole lack of creativity. While most of BT's dance music does feel lacking (aside from Flaming June and a few others) in creativity, his rock music, experimental stuff, and orchestral compositions have by and large hit home for me. He may not be able to churn out the hooks like others, but he certainly can put them out enough that I enjoy his music.

The question is: is that even necessary?
The overall theme of a track does not necessarily have to be made up out of melodic hooks.

Exactly. If melodic hooks were the only thing important we should only be listening to catchy 3 minute pop songs (not that there's anything wrong with catchy 3 minute pop songs).
