sasha really needs to lay off the boring tech/minimal house snoozefest he's been shitting out of his asshole over the past two years and return to his mid to late 90s trend-setting form...same applies to digweed

What i'm about to say isn't popular but here, stop living in the past! Those times are gone, music has evolved, dont look for that sound anymore, especially not with the two artists mentioned.

Most likely, they're probably going to switch to another genre that they've bested like previous years.

oh yes, definitely no more of the 7 minutes long mixes quality has definitely dropped but surprisingly enough I still love his sets, I think he has great taste in music by the stuff he plays. Then again my opinion only counts so much since I've never seen many him or many others live..=/

I liked his set at Tribe, although I'd heard most of the tunes in previous sets of his.

Lately I find he is hit or miss, as is Digweed.

But I don't think we've seen the end of Sasha, I think when it comes down to it, he's still one of the few DJs I can rely on to tear up the dancefloor whenever I see him.

RJT: Just because you had a bad night seeing Sasha, doesn't mean he plays lousy everywhere.

As far as his Ableton set up goes, at first I think it was all about being very cutting edge and technical, he was trying new and crazy things and doing some funked up shit with the tunes he was playing... Just like any DJ does when they make the switch over to Ableton, they try all the crazy things that they weren't able to do with the CDJs/TTs.

When it comes down to it though, whatever medium you use, you have to let the tracks themselves do most of the talking, those of you who are complaining about him using Live I don't think WOULD be if you loved all the tunes he was playing, because in the end, if you have a stick shoved so far up your ass that you can't enjoy GREAT tunes at a club because the DJ is on a computer and not on the CDjs... You have issues and probably shouldn't bother listening to the music anymore because of how cynical about the whole thing you've become.

When he played at Tribe he was doing some fun stuff with it, I am getting to know the program well-ish myself, been using it a few months, and I was impressed with the way he uses it to add lots of drama to the build ups, and how he uses little bits and pieces of some tracks to bridge the way between tunes that are of completely different styles/genres.

But ya, his track lists have been too recycled lately, but in regards to the ableton thing, meh, he uses it how he uses it, DJing with Ableton is a constant learning process, I don't think Sasha is the Ableton Master by any stretch and I think he'll continue to do and try new things with it and we'll see where it goes!

Laptop, CD, vinyl, 8-track... doesn't matter. Sasha's done... Reason? Ableton making him lazy? Maybe... Over it because he has no hair? Could be... Married now and ready to have a kid? ::ing::: Women will do it every time.

After hearing his essential mix stand out so much from everything he has done this year, I knew all his US shows would suck. How many times can we hear supermayer 2 of us and Jurgen's love it this year?

If you stay on top of Sasha's sets 24/7 and then go see him live, you are going to be let down on the chance of hearing new stuff from him. There's a better chance of a comet hitting you in the face rather than hearing a stand out set from Sasha anytime soon. Even the Boat party in NY this summer, and the private shows he is crazy about doing now (at cielo and love) you won't hear anything different from what he plays everywhere else.

Best advice is to stop listening to all of his sets for a while, and then go see him not knowing what he is playing. You might have a good time if he doesn't loopy-doopy-ping-pong on Ableton all night.

It's not as easy as a lot may think, once you hit such a pounding schedule I doubt you'll have much time and go to hammer an absolutely monster set each gig. Seriously.

I think his setup is very impressive but at the end of the day it's the music not the technology that matters. I've tried to get into his music by listening to some essential mixes and sets and they just bore me.

Personal preference, nothing more.
