if only that was the way i viewed all women. they are merely a a trait i happen to love, along w/ blonde hair which these days im loving as equally.

Didn't they acquit him of the crime, but refuse to publically absolve him of the crime entirely based on evidence, thinking that if they let evidence prove his inoccence that would open up a whole new can of worms in the judicial system?

I see Shelley's point. I don't have the stats but my common sense tells me there are far more cases of actual abuse than false alarms. Police have experience with domestic violence so I do have some faith in their training (but of course there are always exceptions).

I have a friend at work who almost got shot by her spouse and was telling me a really bone-chilling story about her relationship.

Jems, to address your concern I guess the police's actions in these cases where arrests are made but no time is served and no charges are formally made, these are just precautionary measures which are meaningless. The problem is, for most of us (including myself) the simple reference to "po po" carries such a negative connotation that even I would feel that their simple involvement would be a grave injustice.

However, in our society, as Akermanis cited above, there are certain gender roles that are related in this issue.

Not to hijack, but I see a parallel of this issue to racial profiling. Why, just because I look Middle Eastern, do I get questioned with more fervor by the customs agents when I'm entering a country? I have learned to accept that as unfair as it seems, I'm contributing to the general safety and security of the country, so I feel like I'm playing my role as a peaceful, law-abiding citizen. The extra questions are just precautionary measures, due to generalizations that are made (albeit unfair) but I don't look at that as harm.

In the same way, it is my opinion that we men shouldn't look at the police involvement as harm, but cooperate peacefully, because we know we haven't done anything wrong, and the truth will reveal itself in due course. Patience.

Sorry about that situation, yes it was shitty. But being an only child has NOTHING to do with it. You're either psycho or you're not.

Canada has mandatory charging policies. if police suspect domestic abuse of any kind (as long as it falls under what they deem abuse) they are supposed to arrest, ************ if even the victim wants charges to be brought

I had a psycho ex who once BS'd she was pregnant after I broke up with her in order for me to stay with her or fork over $300 for the operation. I called her bluff because she told me the same story 6 mo earlier about an ex of hers and she went shopping with her friends when he paid up instead of staying. She did the same scheme with my friend who dated her after me because he heard all the nympho stories.

I've never hit a woman and I never will, yet I have been hit by a girl yet somehow that isn't (usually) seen as abuse. There is definitely a double standard going on, but I also know many guys who have hit their girlfriends or wives and there is no excuse for it.

But a woman like this has issues and when you think about it, it's really easy to set a guy up for abuse isn't it?

Agreed. Now tell me, what did you do that made the girl hit you?
