I'm sure the Lambos use the same TFSI engine that for example both the Audi A3 and Skoda Octavia use.

Yeah but the engine isn't a major component of a car atall you're right, I was wrong.

But I suppose in my defense it isn't just the engines...

lol theres SOOO much more to a car than just the engine. the engine isnt as major a component relative to all the rest of the engineering since its just an improvement (haha if theres any improvement at all!) to a current line engine. even the bugatti veyron engine is just improvements on the engine technology that VW has been working on for about 6yrs when it was finally used in the passat, phaeton, and touareg.

Have you ever been in a current generation Skoda? As I said the engine is just the easiest to demonstrate example. Don't be silly.

im in the states. that should be an obvious answer.

and im not glorifying anything. i was just saying that your statements are quite off by generalizing just because some brand is a part of a larger known auto group.

Well lets put it this way they all use the same parts an methods to the extent that buy an Audi or a Skoda and you'll be using the same steering wheel.

Unrelated in a way but a friend of mine is mounting a Seat engine into a old VW and using an Audi dash and Seat electrics. And they all work and fit together.

i agree. parts bins are shared a lot when in the same auto groups.

LOL!!!!!!! So you still think an entire engine in 'just a part' while you have never been in a Skoda?

Ok read this...

quote:
Comparisons

The German automobile TV show Auto Motor und Sport compared the Škoda Octavia with its cousin, the Volkswagen Golf Mark V and concluded that the Škoda Octavia was slightly better than the Volkswagen Golf owing to a little more interior space and other specific ergonomics, better build quality, better driveability and a lower price.

The British automobile magazine and TV/radio show Top Gear in their 2006 survey placed the first generation Octavia into 3rd place and was described as a masterpiece of dependability[5]. The second generation was too new to be included in the survey.

The British automobile magazine Auto Express awarded to the second generation Octavia the gold medal in their prestigious Driver Power top 100, stating that it is the UK'’s most satisfying car to own in 2007 and that it has bettered every other car on sale in the UK and that [6]

Along with other Škodas, the Czech-built Octavia has been a markedly reliable vehicle, more so than the Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf with which it shares platforms. In 2006 Warranty Direct, a UK-based provider of mechanical warranties for used cars, rated Škoda the top manufacturer (above Mazda and Honda), while Audi came seventh from bottom. The Octavia specifically had a reliability index of 32.74 (lower being more reliable) while the Golf produced over the same period was 87.28 and the Audi A3 99.43.

Which 'semi' proves your point but not in your favour.

i am not saying one is better than the other. i dont have an opinion on skoda as im in the states and cant experience all that is skoda. all i made clear is that you cant assume too much based on the fact that an auto company is part of a larger auto group.

and the engine is "just a part" in the larger picture. the reason that they make it "easy" (i say that loosely because its not necessarily easy at all) to move an engine from one brand to another all under the same auto group is due to component manufacturing is generally contracted out to the same companies and this simplifies parts bins. they dont have to stock so many different pieces to manufacture multiple cars. saves on manufacturing costs and also labor costs.
