Sad to see this happen, people getting killed in the midst of having a good time. What if Clubs employed the metal detector type systems found in supermarkets? Would those work?

Reading the replies, it seems like the same "drug dealer" turf wars crap what has happened here in the Bay Area. That is an element of this culture that I hate, the dealers, but their services are in demand and so horrible things like this are bound to happen.
I was at a Quest Party in 1999, in Oakland, when two ravers got stabbed. That was horrible. Incidents like remind me how much I do like the tight security at clubs, the dress codes, and the metal detectors.
I have family in Caracas and these incidents make me sad, very sad.

Metal Detectors are so much more important than people searching you if you want to try to prevent weapons. Ten15 did he metal detection thing (after that certain incident on a certain PvD night) for awhile, but haven't seen it around for some time. I wonder why.
Anyhow, again, metal detectors, to me, are much better in trying to prevent weapons from getting in because it can detect metal on parts of your body that security people won't touch. I like to see doorway detectors rather than wands...but still have the wands around incase the door goes off when you enter it and they need to check you closer.

I know this used to cause the lines to get ridiculously long, but in many ways, it helps prevent tragedies like this...
