Malek will always have a little bitterness for TO, until he moves here, and realizes a lot of what he's grown up to learn there isn't true.

huh? I prefer 100 feet cieling, unlimited seating to 15 feet cieling and gorilla security squishing you to that juice monkey who has been sweating for the last 4 hours because its just too hot. Matter of fact, i despice any crowded club wherever it is.

Moving to Toronto? why? I am not a francophobe

massives in TO are possible, under the current bylaws, it's just that the costs are quite prohibitive if the event is held on city owned property which tends to be the only venues that will hold capacity crowds in excess of 10,000.

private venues such as ACC and SkyDOME are potential sites as well but again high costs tend to keep these places from hosting any sort of large scale event especially for this genre of music.

finally, there's also the issue of club politics in this city which eventually will sideline any attempt at bringing in high profile names into large venues not deemed 'acceptable'.

so yeah in the end , high costs due to city bylaws, and private venue ownership + club politics = no fun for you TO

are we talking about police officers/crowd ratio? which must be paid for (double and triple hourly wages) ?

i am very curious as what is the ratio, we have a similar bylaw in Montreal btw.

And how could the ACC be much more expensive than the Bell Center (4th busiest in the world)?

Would a 150$-200$ ticket price be too much in Toronto for such event?

ha ha, Capital Sound, I don't remember them, esp since I'm not from Ottawa originally, but I do remember it always being -20 (or lower), too cold to be dancing outside. 'Wish I toughed it out, but coming from Van I was like,"are these ppl for real?"

Triads.. ah yes, if you have the asian flu (like I do), you then risk the prospect of throwing stars to the head if you approach their women

George Gillett's Habs pay more property tax than all the other NHL teams combined.. I read that today. That must factor/trickle down into rental costs for the Bell Centre..

Speaking of sports, Leafs lost 5-1 and Raptors lost by 27 pts tonight

Looking at everything activate mentioned, it's still possible and happens, just at other types of parties...not necessarily EDM, but 'if you build it, they will come.' haha

you definately need the local talent...which Toronto has a lot of....but in order to draw large enough crowds you have to make it appeal to that large population of semi edm fans (those who only hear what is played on the radio). You could have Digweed, SVD, JOOF, Above & Beyond and Paul Oakenfold but these are not DJs that the semi edm fan knows. Personally, I don't think Toronto has as large a true edm fan base as Montreal but Toronto has a larger semi edm fan base.

Its the same with hockey in Toronto.....there is only a small group of true hockey lovers but there are a lot of leaf fans (only semi hockey lovers).

you're also talking about the Golden Horseshoe so there's a HUGE population base a short radius away from Metro TO. You would get ppl from the US, other parts of Ontario, even Montreal if the booking is solid. Look how many TOTAs are here compared to MTLTAs..

It's not the fan base, it's the politics.
