They couple great hardware with awesome drivers. You can't go wrong. They were among the first to have Vista drivers, along with RME and a few other high end firms. They did it MONTHS (~6-8) before M-Audio and most other brands. That says a lot about the company, IMO.

I upgraded from an M-Audio Firewire Audiophile. That was an absolute piece of shit, IMO. I was foolish and didn't do my research. The meters and the knob on the front would constantly drop out. The connection would also just randomly dissapear. This happened on 2 computers.

Fireboxes are good. Very tried and tested. However, they are getting old. The AudioFires are a newer product, AFAIK, so the specs are a bit better if you look into them.

Can I get away with using an audiofire 2 with traktor 3? Or do I need to get the audiofire 4? IT says it has a headphone output that I can maybe set to monitor cues in traktor? Then I just need one output to go to mixer?

I already have a echo indigo DJ, and I really like the quality of sound that it has. Will the 4 have more quality than a 2?

If you only need one output to the club mixer, an audiofire2 will work fine. you can monitor via the headphone plug.

if you want to monitor through the mixer, you get a headphone to rca cable and plug that into a spare channel on the mixer.

i wouldn't run a main output through the headphone jack though, the sound quality is probably degraded a bit through the amp.

No I would not use the front headphone for any other out but a pair a headphones.

Awesome news that I do not need the 4, now I save some $$. Also I only use the internal mixer with USB controller, so I would not need another out for an external mixer.

Thanks for the info!

Can you actually get away with having a @ home setup with taking a mixer out of the equation ??

Right now my setup is

Traktor 3
Dell Laptop
Final Scratch 2 (controlling traktor)
DJM 600
CDJ 800's (2)
**************************************

I want something for a HOME PC Dj setup.

I was thinking about using

Traktor 3 or Torq
Behringer BCD2000 (I also have a X-Session pro mixer still in the box)
M-Audio Pro Audio Studiophile AV-40 (for speakers) *I can still use my headphones I am assuming)

Where I am stuck at is what type of External SOund card I should buy. I don't know much about them and before I spend + $200.00 bucks I wanna make sure I can buy something that works and ideally that could hook up to a CLUB MIXER.

Only one I know of is M AUDIO-410

(sorry for going slightly off topic)

Did you not read this thread? People are saying the Echo Audiofire is a good card. Now depending on how many ins and outs you need, you at least know what brand you should start looking into...

When I went to Long and McQuade a few weeks ago I mentioned to the guy working there that I was thinking about going with an M-Audio interface and as soon as the words left my mouth he said "don't buy M-Audio--those things are total shit". Just thought I'd share.

I'm buying the AudioFire 4 in a few weeks.

What specifically do you want the soundcard for? If you get Torq/Connectiv, you get the Connectiv interface, so you dont really need a seperate soundcard, not unless you need more than the 2 ins and 2 outs that Connectiv gives you...

Personally, I have Torq, and I have a Focusrite Saffire for recording mixes and for monitoring when Im producing...

Most M-audio stuff is. However, I've had really good luck with their Delta410 and Delta66. I have one of each, have owned them for a long time (4 or so years) and they've worked out really nice.

The 410 is especially nice for mixing, since it has 8 channels out, it will fill up a 4 channel stereo mixer. Picked it up for $75 off eBay, its done what I wanted it to.

I figured it'd be a neat idea to pick up a M-Audio MIDI keyboard after I had good luck with the Delta soundcards... Oops. mistake.
