I would say now is the time to start cutting prices, because we're winning.

I've seen blu's in deals for less then $20

Yeah, I don't see Blu going more $$. They want more people to have it and that means getting players into the $200 "magic price point"

I can say that I am excited to get my Tiesto EOL Blu-ray!!!

I read yesterday that Toshiba has left this market for good, thus Blue Ray has won out.

Unforuntely for HD DVD buyers, Toshiba has no plans to offer any refunds of any kind, including for those people who bought them within the last week or so, but "Toshiba promised to provide full product support and after-sales service for all existing HD DVD owners who are now left with obsolete home entertainment systems." Moreover, Toshiba stated that "there is nothing wrong with the products so we aren't accepting returns from customers."

Thank goodness we waited until the war of HD DVR's was over before we potentially wasted so much money

Why would Toshiba offer any refunds? People will still be using their HD-DVD players for the same reason they've been using them all along -- to watch upscaled DVDs

Actually I am with the fence sitters.

But buying sony now will give them the idea that their business tactics work, and they will be ever so inclined to do it again during the next format war.

I'm not going to support Bluray at all.

Its just like what Hillary is doing now, by working on the super delegates instead of the actual voters...

Sony just concentrated on the movie production companies, instead of on the consumer base. So they got the people at the top to go along with their plan, instead of asking how we all felt about it.

Both technologies (Blu-ray, and HD-DVD) are so similar, it could have easily resulted in a settlement on 1 standard, with the consumer as the victor, and both companies making royalties. But one of the parties involved was in such big trouble in the market, and such greed, that if their idea of the technology didn't "win" they were going to really be in trouble. So they resorted to cheating, instead of letting the "market" decide. Not a company (or a person) I would ever be friends with.

I'm not saying they should. Notice that the part of my post that you quoted was itself a direct quote from Toshiba's president

Oh, I understand that. I just find it funny that Toshiba had to make a statement like that, as if there are HD-DVD owners wondering if they're getting their money back. Especially people who bought them in the last week or so (anyone that bought one after CES should've known what they were getting into).

I lol'ed when apple gave a refund in store credit to all the early iphone retar.... adopters.

People are sheep. They have no idea what they want, or why they want it. They get corralled into a corner through marketing, they lose all form of rational thought, and end up not questioning things, or even caring if they did question it.

This is why the President had to release that statement. In this day and age, if it wasn't explicitly said, then it isn't true, even if some consider it obvious.
