i remember watching a thing on 20/20 a few years ago about trying to get more healthier foods into the school systems. turns out Coke and Pizza Hut have a pretty good stronghold on the lunch-box system.

Thats good its like that by you, cause by me it wasnt. My first job was at a grocery store. Now it was many years ago but we even used to joke in disgust while a good portion of the people on some sort of gov. help were buying crap for themselves & fat kids.

well i am a product of a former welfare family. i am pretty thin but most of my family is fat. they havent been on welfare for about 10 years now (i think its been longer) but they are poor. i can attest to the fact that its MUCH cheaper to buy shit food than good food. especially when theres 7 kids. its just expensive as hell to eat properly.

Yeah, I will agree with that. I still maintain that someone could eat relatively healthy on a modest budget though. It comes down portioning, being crafty, and eating the basics.

i wrote a paper about this last year.. pretty much what everyone else has said. eating healthy is not only a trend here in the united states, but an expensive habit as well. eating fast food here in the united states will cost you less than buying friuts and veggies in the grocery store.. and vice versa.

how long has it been since you priced shitty food? i used to eat horribly and get shitty food. ive changed my diet since then and i try to eat decently. relative to how much i require just for daily consumption it would cost me $20-25/day to eat healthy. if i eat totally shitty i can eat for $8/day. if i eat decently i spend about $12/day. this is based on 2 meals per day. thats a HUGE difference.
