If you plan on partying on NYE and afterpartying and know someone you can leave your stuff with...don't book a hotel room on NYE itself.

Check out (11am or noon), go to wherever your friend is and hang out all day, go to TAO, go to the afterparty, and survive until near checkin time and get your stuff and go check in to some hotel....if prices are gonna be gouged, it's gonna be on NYE. Can save yourself plenty o money by not getting a hotel on this night.
