I was actually referring to the RWC thing but you may have a point.

The promo strategy may cost them a lot of money but they're banking on the return.

I suspect that cinemas make money off the merchandise (including food, candy) sales rather than the actual ticket sales themselves. That would explain why food and drinks are priced so high.

Anyone work in the entertainment/marketing industry who could offer some insight?

Yeah. IT's true. They make most of their revenue on the concession.

However, you can use your points to buy food as well.

1,000 points will get the 2 drinks + popcorn combo.

If you're serious: it was just a play on words. For instance, someone will say 'I just scored some good weed the other day' or 'I should have that CD you wanted soon' and the reply would be 'seen' as in 'sick', 'dope', 'nice', etc.
