The scene in Children of Men where Theo is bringing the baby out of the bombed-out building and all the soldiers just stand there watching him, some down on their knees. I don't even know why it's so affecting. You see it coming a mile away, but I can't really think of a more emotional scene in a movie.

I want to say there are a lot of rally "sad" scenes in The Fountain, but I dunno. It's a fantastic movie, but I think if you understand the point it's trying to make, it's really not all that sad so much as it is, uhhh... I dunno. But I don't think it's trying to be sad.

I think it is augmented by all of the pent-up emotion the viewer feels during the chaotic scene directly preceding it. But I agree - I definitely felt that moment too.

Also in The Sixth Sense, when Cole tries to explain to his mother about the pendant and she dismisses him. He asks if she is mad and she stops, looks at him and says "Listen to me. I could never. ever. be angry at you" and so he tries to explain it to her again and she finally believes him and they share a cry. All done in one take - I don't know how the actors kept their cool, cause it was definitely an emotionally-charged scene.
