The scene in Children of Men where Theo is bringing the baby out of the bombed-out building and all the soldiers just stand there watching him, some down on their knees. I don't even know why it's so affecting. You see it coming a mile away, but I can't really think of a more emotional scene in a movie.
I want to say there are a lot of rally "sad" scenes in The Fountain, but I dunno. It's a fantastic movie, but I think if you understand the point it's trying to make, it's really not all that sad so much as it is, uhhh... I dunno. But I don't think it's trying to be sad.
