"Lights Out Asia", is an absolutely stunning ambient/postrock/shoegaze band (yes i'm a whore for that specific style-i personally think that this music is the 21st century prog-rock/art-rock/kraut-rock). They have two albums, first one is called "Garmonia", and the second one "Tanks and Recognizers". Listen to samples of "Garmonia"- their first album here:

In contrast to many generic ambient releases (in which one tends to here a one-note reverbed/delayed pad for 8 minutes), these guys have more of an epic song-structure (rather then abstract-tapestry) approach to their tunes, with fantastic melodies resonating with emotions. Tunes such as "hail russia-Live", "farewell, humphrey bogart", "sigil" and "not everyday's a victory" sound like a 21st-century futuristic version of Pink Floyd!

I really am digging Hammock lately, their music is amazing! I need to pick up their first album on ITunes. I have "Rasing Your Voice...Trying To Stop and Echo" and I have listened to it from first till last track like 5 times and I haven't gotten sick of it yet. And Lanterna is awesome! Definitely hear how Hammock's sound was influenced by Lanterna. I will check out the other artists, but I have heard Eluvium and it's pretty decent stuff. I have two M83 CDs and they are really good.."Before The Dawn Heals Us" is by far their best IMO (maybe because the songs are more structured and not so much noisy, experimental pieces and it flows quite well). See i'm not really THAT into trance, most days I prefer stuff like Hammock, Lanterna and the like (of course can't get over Amethystium, have yet to get sick of his music, like 99% of his tracks). I knew you would contribute to this thread eventually, considering you seem to know alot about ambient/post-rock/dream-pop/shoegazer music.

Yeah i know that you like atmospheric and melodic stuff in general (like me) and i never accused you for only listening to melodic trance. In a matter of fact, i also like some modern melodic/epic trance as well (e.g. i enjoyed the whole "intuition compilation" by Menno). Its just that i don't find good melodic trance THAT often. Maybe its just me you know, because im into that sound from 99 and stuff and i kinda got bored of it (although some of the tracks you mentioned in the other thread were very good). Anyway, if you like this type of music make sure to check the stuff i mentioned, particularly Lights out Asia, Port-Royal and Saxon Shore. "Before the Dawn Heals Us" is a personal favourite-one of my favourite albums of all time! And yeah i like Amethystium as well, although i didn't like his third album (despite the fact that it had superb production). The first two ones were much more powerfull IMO.

Wow, thanks for the recommendation of this group. Just listened to Garmonia all the way through and it is really good.

Sounds extremely similar to Helios' stuff, but I think Eingya is still better and its on par with Unomia.

Yeah I just get almost accused of being an ASOT or Armin fan boy by some because I defend epic/melodic trance, because it's typically been the sound that I enjoyed the most, both listening to and hearing at clubs, although I can't say I really heard a good epic trance set live. And the newer stuff (good stuff you can find, which is rare but still possible) is actually even better than some of the stuff from the early 2000s in that it doesn't make use of the super-saw sound quite as much. I prefer guitars and pianos and space pads to the bombastic super-saw sounds. Although there were a good number of melodic tracks that did not use that sound back then (I'm thinking stuff from Anjunabeats and Lost Language that didn't use it). I just like melodic music in general.

"Before The Dawn Heals Us" is superb, a great shoegazer/post-rock/ambient hybrid, something you really can't label cause it's so unique. I disagree, his third one had some great tracks (Shadows To Light, Hymnody, Ad Astra, Berecuse, Exaltation, Garden of Sekuptala) but granted his first one was his best.
