I just find darkpsy to be so... flat and boring. There isn't that much build or anything.

Or I could be listening to the wrong stuff.

I disagree... I love how the sounds are complex and its industrial influences (how it often samples sounds... and plays stuff that sounds kind of... flat)

If you want a great example of morning psytrance then look no further than: http://miniurl.org/4GN

I mean morning is really just a slang word for not psychedelic psytrance.

I wouldn't say morning psy necessarily isn't psychedelic. First of all it's not an easy thing to define exactly what is psychedelic, and second there are degrees of psychedelic, at least of what i perceive as such. You can inject some euphoria into psychedelic music and have something that works, just listen to The Overlords - God's Eye On Goa, for instance. (god i love that track )

Yes but in general hardly any of the morning stuff is psychedelic... its just usually more melodic and uplifting.

I've got a pretty vivid idea of what psychedelic is in my mind.

My liking of progpsy and darkpsy are similar... get boring after a while, while listening to single tracks... but are real nice in good sets.

Morning and night are so relative. You will read, in some places, of people who think that Penta is morning music (simply because it has more going on than the usual crush and grind of darkpsy). That being said, I don't think it is all that difficult to sort out what works well for morning. Aside from all the usual prog-psy suspects (FREq et al), you're going to want to check out Pulsar Records for a good overview of artists that make the more upbeat morning-style psytrance. Some artists: Rumble Pack, Mr. Peculiar, Setherian, Human Blue, Orion, Pixel, Wizzy Noise, Astrix, even GMS (these days)... plenty of stuff to choose from.

I'd say full on... doesn't sound particularly dark to me... seriously just because its played at night doesn't mean its dark psy.
