I always find it hillarious when almost every girl always gives this same generic answer, and then half of them end up with douchebags.

Probably because most of these terms are too general, and aren't very descriptive of someone's unique personality.

No offense intended to theresa of course, but, is anyone interrested in interresting, original characters, not just bland stereotypes out of a cheesy romance novel?

Obviously. Speaking from experience, you can't just go out with a list of 70-100 extremely specific traits and expect to find the person that fits that mold.

I think the whole point is to have a general idea of what kind of person you're looking for...and then from there you discover all those idiosyncrasies and things that make the person interesting and original.

That's a big part of what makes a relationship good, imo.

I think though, that a lot of people kid themselves into thinking they're really truly interested in someone else, and are willing to accept them for that. A lot of the time, all most people want is someone who is a reflection of/complement to their own personality/ego/whatever.

That's pretty much what I meant. Just being able to come up with a list of points like that is a bad thing, because all of those characteristics are meaningless out of context, and mostly superficial. It can cause you to overlook someone interesting because at first impression they don't check with those requirements. My experience has shown me that sometimes, flaws can make someone so much more interresting. Some people are acquired tastes.

Likewise I've met alot of people who would check out on the list theresa posted, and they were some of the most boring and shallow people I've ever met.
