I believe that's the upcoming EQ Grey release, and I believe it's being released in March.

And oddly enough, I'm pretty sure the biggest, if not the only reason, I am not supposed to ID it yet is because the title of the release isn't definite yet. If I find out otherwise I'll update the thread.

I only do 2-3 of these kinds of mixes a year, so the seasons get lumped together due to laziness

Sorry man, I listened and I really didn't feel it.

If I were to plot this mix on a graph it would be a horizontal line all the way across, it goes no where in my opinion and the only shift in pace appears to come at the end with some slightly more aggressive drum kits.

Really spacey, really "flowing" I suppose but this is the type of set I'd expect from 10-12 at a club, ... if you were opening for a guy like Danny Howells or someone else who starts off very slowly.

I understand the desire to pick tracks that work together, and all these do, but there is no highlight(s) for me in this mix and for at home listening I classify this as boring, at a club I suspect that you'd be able to do a good job opening with stuff like this but the fact is I'm surrounded by no hotties here in my basement, nor is there any booze, well maybe there's a beer in my fridge, I'm too lazy to check.

I gave it a shot, but imo, this mix is rather lack luster.

And this isn't some super biased view or anything, as I've enjoyed sets by you in the past.

It's not like you don't know how to pick tunes that work together, and you certainly know how to mix them well, but for me personally the fist-pumpness of the tunes is 75% of the pie.

But hey, name me a DJ that appeals to EVERY SINGLE PERSON EVER and I'll win you the lottery.

Indeed - and I'm quite used to taking an even amount of positive and negative criticism for pretty much anything I make (and figure if I dish it out, I damn well better take it), and I always seem to learn something from the negatives, so it's really only for my benefit in the end.

Again, cheers for the listen - and regardless of the why and how this one was a misfire for you, I appreciate the thought.

like afore mentioned - everything works very well together, and its not like the flow is the problem, its just ended up not really being my flavor of sound.

Thanks again anyways for the listen, Will.

To be honest, I am really not surprised that one qualifies as not being everyone's flavor - it's definitely a brooding, moody, relaxed set that really wasn't ever intended to be something people would want to hear out at a club (which I think is a bit of a risk when you post something on TA - the nature of the forum I seems to prefer more melodic, danceable music).

When I do promo sets like this, I guess my goal is try not to sound like a lot of what else is being put out there at the moment - unfortunately a lot of times it can end up misfiring.

I understand that what a lot of people want in the realm of EDM is music to dance to - club friendly stuff. Unfortunately most of the time beyond the opening hours stuff, I don't really have a desire to play that kind of music - which isn't to say I don't enjoy it because I absolutely love going out and hearing bangers out at a club. It's just usually not the mentality I go into creating promos with.

And I hope this doesn't sound arrogant, but this is a mix I am pretty proud of myself for - so even if it doesn't appeal to many, I'm still happy I was finally able to put it together (I had worked on the beginning and end for quite some time - or at least had the idea of how I wanted them to flesh themselves out).
