Now this is the saddest news I have heard, I sure hope so that this is a Friday night change and not Saturday..

1015 is the best club for EDM in the bay area and with out it, it will be a very bad thing...

Yet another club goes down in the EDM scene it seems. Ruby Sky is shit. 1015, yea it needed touch ups haha but i thought over the last two or so years it was going somewhere positive. Word of change was spreading and remodeling the outside, etc. The mass guestlists to attract attendance and word of mouth promotion. The killer artists there. Fire having a residency. Etc Etc. Its a shame. And with a rock/hip hop thing fridays or saturdays, the place wont have a EDM vibe to it really. The colors might change, the items, etc.

Just hope 1015 doesnt end up like Mansion Miami, with tables on the floor or what not and more sections reserved. Also clubs have a huge impact on the surrounding EDM focus in the city. Lovefest, Skills massives, etc. With the support of clubs being in the area, its easier to attract acts and also have competition, drawing a name to the city for its EDM scene.

Tisk tisk.

Oh yea, that lineup by the way for SUPERNATURE... WOAH! Intense. And nothing like live shows. From Infected Mushroom to Ottaviani, no matter what genre, its so much stronger!!!

Hello Fello TA's. Im new. I work in a marketing and advertising gig out here in the city, and frequent clubs like Ruby Skye, and others around the bay area. I also have played a few venues too locally, but to not be bias im not gonna state where...

I wanted to say hello, and post a brief intro to this thread. Ive been a reader of Tranceaddict up until today, and signed up for my account and decided to post. So I thought I would say a few words to this post. This thread really bothers me, so I thought I would address my thoughts and opinions. Ive read some past posts where some of us have been speaking out about the San Francisco EDM scene.

I hope I dont stir up too much trouble. But I want to make it known that there are some SF EDM fans out here that read the posts on here. I applaude who is ever running Saturday nights cause they do have their game faces on. At least the club is packed those nights. Kinda makes up for the lame Fridays for the last year or so!!!

First off, who the fuck is Peter Glikshtern? Is this the same overgrown Wheres Waldo Frankenstein lookalike mofo who wears a trucker hat that used to run Mighty? I see him standing outside sometimes and would seriously like to go up and kick him in the nuts. I swear if I had one of those plastic foam bats I would take it up to the side of his head. If this is the ONE guy responsible for the demise of 1015s friday nights or for fucking with the format... please... PLEASE someone get rid of him.

Second, What the hell happened to 1015's Friday nights? I remember crowds of people coming to the club to see local talent. I remember going there and not even knowing which night to go cause the talent was spot on. Are you kidding me with this Donnas shit? TOO SHORT??? GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE???!!! If you wanna make the club like it was, or even keep it alive, bring in local talent. Let there be more local nights, so that they can book more local talent djs abroad. There are plenty of San Francisco Djs that play elsewhere at different venues because 1015 is hard to get into. Seriously, I hope the club owner sees this message. You would make more money booking local talent that second rate shit. Look at last Friday!!!!!!

I havent went to 1015 for sometime.. I would say since 2003. I really stopped going when Spundae left, but with the partys that have been happening Saturdays, I have been coming back. Ive been dropping in from time to time, and noticed an ad on the screens about Tranceaddict.com, some video running, so I tapped in and here I am. Ive also been greeted by the fine security the club has, including some big ape of a man called Dave. I remember Dave from back in the day, so it was nice to see him still there, outside doing what he does...

Also, WTF happened to the 1015 Forums? I was active on their for some time, and now the forums have gone away and never came back. Does the club not have anything in place for someone to create a damn forum? This is garbage. Having to relate to a site like Tranceaddict to do all promotions for the club is ridiculous. There should be more promotion on the site, and less time brining in nowhere bands like the Donnas. There must have been at least 100 or less people in the club on Friday when I went last week. The club looks great. But what is missing is the PEOPLE!!!!

Why cant Friday Nights be as successful as Saturday nights? Why? I also work in marketing and advertising for a major firm here in San Francisco. As much of a fan I am of 1015, and EDM. WHERE THE FUCK IS THE MEDIA PROMOTIONS FOR THE CLUB???? NO RADIO ADS, NO COMMERCIALS ABOUT NIGHTS, NOTHING... PEOPLE WHAT THE FUCK.

"My feeling is that [live acts] have been the trend for a while now," general manager Peter Glikshtern tells SF Weekly, "and we need to get with the program."

Are you fucking kidding me? I seriously do not think this man is capable of helping the growth of the club at all. Whats wrong with this is that I dont care how big your act is. EDM or not, without key promotions there is NO PARTY. Look at the raves, the scene... how other clubs are promoting abroad. Why isnt 1015 taking initiative to resolve loopholes in their Marketing and Advertising? The club makes money from people going in there on Saturday. Fuckin give us something back for coming to your damn club. Expecially the people who make a difference. Without people coming to your club, there is no club, there is no party. There is no 1015!!!!!! Dude you come from mighty. Go back. 1015 doesnt need you. Give up you suck.

I believe the comment that RICH said about live acts is spot on. Dont change the format of the club. 1015 is where people go to listen to EDM, not second rate rock bands. If you want live talent book some of the people he mentioned.

Also, I think that 1015 should look at how some of the other clubs in the business are maintaining on Friday nights. How does 1015 expect to compete with Venues like the independent warfield, slims the Filmore Rick Shaw, let alone Shoreline amphtheather, the greek amptheater and all the other venues in the bay are that host live music? As a fan of Dance music and Rock Music, I would never go to 1015 over any of these other venues to see a live show. It would be nice to see live rock at 1015, but I just dont see it working.

Mosh pit in the mainroom anyone?

As a multiclub goer here in the City, Friday nights at other clubs are poppin. Owner of 1015, get yourself a media or marketing guy, get locals in... get SF Djs in more. Fuck the live talent unless its EDM. 1015 is a goddamn EDM club. not some live talent second rate bar. I also would like to see the club give back more to the public, or the fans that come to the club. celebrate a anniversary or something because its been around for some time.

What matter the most to the club is its patrons. Without people coming to your club your nothing. I dont care how big of a club you are. I dont care who you book, just dont book POS live talent like the Donnas AGAIN. Pull the damn plug on that asshole person Glikshtern PLEASE!!!!

Enough attacking EDM. I dont understand how 1015 can hire this supposed general manager and not have any positive movement forward.

No shit. I'm in the Public Relations/Advertising/Marketing business as well and there has been nothing done on this end to promote the club.

Outside of the regular flyers (which the promoters do btw), no positive stories have run, nothing. It's not the promoters/DJs responsibility to give the club a positive standing in the public's eye. The promoters are there to get people in the club.

I think the upper management needs to stop pinching pennies and put some EFFORT and money into the club. DO YOUR JOB! Do what makes your customers happy. People are drawn to this club for a reason. Maybe they should learn why people love this place so much. Stop collecting a paycheck and get off your ass and stop relying on others to run your business.

As long as Saturday's stay the same at the club, I'm happy.

Sorry about the Ten15 boards...yeah, sitting there and writing huge, very detailed, constructive criticism because the people posting CARED about the stability of Ten15.... (lots by me, some by others)...well, Ira didn't like that and had it shut down. In like 2004! Sorry. :-p

Ten15 has constently lagged on making smart choices for its business.

WIth Friday nights...well, it's just hard. It has been since about 2002 after the dot-come crash. Other EDM places places like Ruby Skye can survive on Friday nights w/o a whole mess of trouble because it's more central in the city. Lots of people out just walk by it and go "ohhh, what's in there" and pay and go in. I stand outside Ruby all the time and see this happen every night, all night long. Other venues that do hip-hop, and other genres easily get people because...well, there's a bigger audience for it. So agian, Friday nights are hard to get regulars to attend. Epsecially when a large part of the city's clubbers come from other parts of the bay, a TON from the San Jose area...they tend to like tos tay local on Friday nights unless it's a huge act in the city and then come into the city on Saturday nights. Do I think this process could be changed? Yes....and it could have been by now, but Ten15 didn't little to take action in the right direction to do this...

A lot of the things they are doing are things a lot of people have been saying the club needs... from a new look on the front of the building (though I think just putting up a sign isn't enough) to a new name (I think is KEY)....but the whole rock concert direction, fuck that...

Unless they shut the place down and rehaul the main room COMPLETELY it has little chance of having a lot of appeal. It amazes me how much owners, managers, etc never realize that there are people who will not attend a concert or DJ gig of someone they really like simply because of the venue it's played in. Ten15 suffers from this issue right now with it's image among EDM fans. They can change the name to try to draw rock fans, but once they are inside and see the setup and go "WTF is this for a rock concert?" I think a lot of them will be completely turned off from going to future events. The venue right now has ZERO appeal as a place for rock fans to attend.

And I don't see how a multi-room venue will be successful for rock events. What are you going ot have in the other rooms? Not like they can have some EDM room and hip-hop room in there, hehe... Think this might be a reason why there's hope for Sat nights still, but no mention of EDM existing at all in that article....and the fact Taj hasn't said anything scares me too!

It's a huge gamble. HUGE. Because if this gamble fails (supposing EDM on Sat nights is out), chances are Ten15 is screwed for good and a gonner. It would be very, VERY hard to recover from it.

i'm too lazy to repeat all the same things we mentioned in that infamous post many months ago. but like some of you others, i'm also in the marketing field and i look at the problems/solutions in the same way and i can easily think of dozens of simple tangible things the club can do (and should actually be doing.. just common sense.. and absolute business sense). it's frustrating seeing so many missed opportunities, so i think like others, i'm just resigned to making the most of the saturday nights that i attend...
