I have almost all my emails forwarded to my cell anyways, so I just have to live with it. This is my choice, so it is easy for me to control.

It would be annoying to get txt messages which i could not control.

I think this is really the only acceptable form in this situation.

A mass message to promote is still kind of annoying though. If you're just asking people if they're coming, it's a little bit less invasive.
