Boring no. Simplistic, yes. Also emotional, imo. Me saying it's good music means a lot, actually. I'm an egomaniac and I believe anything I like is truly the best. Those who deny its quality are morons. You are the biggest one thus far, my Swedish puppy.

Ha - I was going to say something initially but didn't want to presume anything.

And LOL @ FromAbove championing its quality when the remixer himself has posted the following:

Everything Blake makes is well produced - but some of it is exactly what it (the bootlegs at least) looks/sounds like - clubby bootlegs meant to destroy a dancefloor with a somewhat familiar hook.

It isn't as if he's claiming/trying to reinvent the wheel here

the whole point of these things, for me, is to just take a good pop track and make it playable in a dance music set. not trying to reinvent the wheel here like RJT said...ill post something i posted on another board about this same gripe:

i guess i should take the time to explain how these things are done...

just because the remix sounds alot like the original doesnt mean there wasnt a ton of work put into...in fact, thats exactly what i wanted to achieve with the remix...

The remix is a BOOTLEG remix, meaning all I had to work with was the actual song, none of the parts/acapellas etc that you would have for a real remix. This is SEVERLY limiting and very challenging. Not every song is possible to bootleg, much less bootleg to sound natural and good on a big system. There are many things like sound imaging and headroom that come into play as well. mixing down a bootleg remix and getting it to sound to that of the standards of which a big dj would play I find is much more challenging and time consuming than that of writing an original song or a real remix with parts. I simply cant turn down the snare in the original or boost the vocal etc. There is only so much you can do with an EQ.

The elements I added to the song were entirely organic. The unoffensive kick drum, the natural bass patch, the overlayed percussion, the reverbs and delays, even the effect swooshes were carefully selected and crafted to sound as natural as possible...i wanted everything i added to sound like it was in the original song already, but sometimes this comes back to haunt me in the form of posts like yours where "he didnt add anything, just the beat". trust me it took me just as long and just as many tracks to reach this result than with any original or remix ive done.

I choose to add organic elements to these tracks because when you start forcing saw waves and epic arps over these songs, well, its sounds WACK.

So yeah, I can totally agree that it sounds alot like the original, that was entirely the point...but dont assume i didnt put alot of hard work into it...

you know that we already spoke about this but the mdk "remix" of intergalactic is the most BLATANT quick-acclaim piece of music ever.

it's not a remix. it's a decent mdk track with some few vocal pieces from the beastie boys, it's borderline offensive tbh. if mdk would have released it without the vocal, it wouldn't have gotten a tenth of the attention it got.

I did a mashup of this track about a month and a half ago live on cdjs with a looped beat from the end of a Jaytech track. It really is just overlaying a dance beat to it. Not much more to it. I thought it came out pretty well for an unplanned mashup.

Check my version out in my mix in my sig. It's the last track.
