People buy them because they feel a need to have shiny silver plastic shit attached to their heads to let everyone know that DJ'ing is serious business, and that they've got skills.
You have to have cans that make you look important to the punters after all:
Just one more example of how EDM is all about keeping up appearances - style over substance, etc.
IMO all those silver cans look fucking terrible. The Sonys are used in studios around the world and have been for years, imo they give off a much more professional look. Fuck they even say PROFESSIONAL on the side...
Those Pioneers are so god damn cheap its ridiculous, all cheap plastic all over. I used to hate the V700s but I've used em a lot at afters parties and they get the job done. My friend's pair is the cleanest sounding that I've heard though.

One night last year another local came up to me while I was playing and said something along the lines of:
quote:
"Man, you're playing pretty well, why don't you get yourself some real DJ headphones instead of those cheap things?"
Referring to the 7506's.
I smiled and nodded "Yeah, maybe!" ( ).
He played an awful set later that night without taking his HDJ1000's off once - sooooooo pro.

lmao
Maybe they were broken and he just glued them to his head?
Man, I played an hour set with those once and my fucking head hurt from the way they squeeze. The 7506 may not isolate sound best but god damn are they fucking comfortable to wear for long periods...

What cans are you comparing them to vis a vis sound quality?

This just made my day
I have 2 comments:
1. I always hear stories about you guys listening to your iPod on the bus, subway, street, etc. You guys are so lucky, doing that here is like begging to get mugged.
2. What the hell are you doing using your $160+ headphones on a bus? Even worse, I hear about people jogging, exercising, and doing all sorts of shit with them. Why would anyone spend so much money on a pair of cans and use it for anything other than DJing or listening to music while chillin' at home is beyond me.
Basically you're asking for them to get fucked.
Edit: just realized that guy is Canadian, which made my day even more.
