As much as I love Mats....I would not re-sign him next year...he is not part of the future of the Leafs and that is what the team needs to look at. He is not going to be around when the leafs have a chance for the cup so spending 6 million + on him is just a waste of money that can be used towards signing other players. If they do re-sign him they cannot give him a no-trade clause.
