I think it's sounding really great! Arrangement flows much better than your early versions. LOVE that main synth. But yeah I too think you should either save the melody for the breakdown or bring in a new synth element over the top of it, just so it breaks down for a reason .. personally I like a purposeful breakdown hehe. A thick airy saw pad sidechained with the kick would be lush I think, would really give it an extra boost and would make the main part sound more 'main' (but feel free to heartily ignore this if you want to retain that minimal feel)

Hey!

Now this is getting better. Bassline is nice and driving and I think the comments about this not being DJ friendly are best ignored. I'm a DJ, I could play it no problem.

I still however feel that the biggest failure if this track is the way you resume after the breakdown. It has a wonderful build but I constantly feel cheated when the track resumes.

What I would do (take it or leave it... standard stuff I know) is have a pause after the build and then smack it in with full melody and pads etc.

The melody itself is good and a good choice of patch, but there isn't enough empahsis on this and it's killing your track in my opinion.

The only way you could get away with what you are doing the moment is if you have something with even greater energy.

Check out the original mix of G&M Project - Sunday afternoon to see what I mean. I know you don't have to copy but you would see what I mean about the management of energy in a track.

Cheers
Nem

Thanks for all the feedback everyone, keeping it all in mind. SO, here's the news for anyone who cares.. haha!

Going to do a VOCAL MIX of the original track -- what you hear so far. Also, I have been working on 2 versions of the song. This one is almost done and I have provided a link. A lot of you will probably hate me for the drastic turn I've taken on it, but keep in mind the vocal version will contain all of these elements you hear right now and this is a remix --, plus this remix is almost done =] Hope you can check it out!

Wow, as far as progress goes this thread has been like an audio diary for me! The tune has evolved so much! Keep in mind all of the prior considerations. Here is a very intimate preview on the remix I will be doing of this track. It's virtually complete!

Thanks again everyone. You're the best ^_^

Hmm... i personally don't like at all where the tech remix is going! I can hear the original lead synth in there (the one i loved) but it's completely relegated to the background. To me, this track was all about that main synth and the arrangement used, and the remix just doesn't do it for me, but then again you were going for a different take and you've achieved it - maybe it will appeal to others. I would however be interested to hear a vocal mix of the orig version! Sounds intriguing!

I hope you like it as much as the original, but this one definetly has a different apeal! I've done a huge amount of work on this since you heard remix.mp3, Nova, maybe you'll like this.

Anyway, this track is going to be released this week

*Update* Here is the extended mix... 5:22

Rather than post another reply, I'll just edit this one.
