It's a shame.

yeah i have no idea what's the situation with drum'n'bass or techno, my post is only based on the situation with trance/house music.

i didn't mean to say it's impossible to get a vinyl release if you don't have the name, even i have a vinyl single and been a part of few vinyl releases recently though i'm not that known. but i meant that it's not very common for an unknown talent, unless the label knows it will definitely sell, weather that's because it's quality or it's commercial factor. in my eyes discover is one of the more mainstream labels in trance (together with armada, anjunabeats, vandit, beyourself and spinnin')

i don't buy vinyl anymore cause i don't deejay and mp3/cd is so much easier for home listening. so i don't really care if they press anything on vinyl or not.
except that now that they do it rarely, it seems to be a sort of a proof of quality for some people. which it probably is to some extent, but can also say something about the track's mainstream appeal or it's dancefloor effect.

Sorry if I seem to hijack this thread but I got a question regarding remixes: can they be signed a label other than the original track just like that(like Umbrella and the Marcus Schossow remix)?

The label releasing the remix should be having/getting an agreement with the label that owns the original copy. Otherwise this isn't possible legally.

Or the artist of the original has a non-exclusive contract with the labels. Which is rare, almost no label is that stupid anymore these days :P.
