What he's saying is that many of the people and events in the bible can and have been proven somewhat accurate based on other evidence from non-biblical sources. The fact that there are Roman coins with Pontius Pilate's name and image on them as well as records from Roman sources that reference him is relatively good evidence to coroborate his existance (which was once questioned by many). There are many other instances where non-biblical sources and archeological finds coroborate various biblical stories as being at least based in fact. This is why he's stating that the bible is a good historical source (albeit one cannot consider it entirely accurate).

If you read the rest of the thread you will grasp what the OP was probably aiming at.

When someone says, "I believe the Bible is real", they are generally referring to the contents, not the physical object itself existing.

Real means many things to many people. There are parts of the bible that are extremely accurate, some that are a question of faith, others that are based in truth, and still others that are either allagory or complete fabrication. If one has actually read the bible and examined it in context one would find that they cannot make any blanket statements about the validity of the bible.

Interesting. What gives you the impression that heaven (assuming it exists) would bind you to an eternity of servitude? Do you have some theological basis for this? Additionally, do you have some theological basis to believe that hell would not entail servitude?

If the writer of the bible was still around today, he'd be more rich than Bill Gates.

Fake.

There are at bare minimum 27 writers of the bible, possibly 32 (as some of the authors are disputed) or somewhere near 100 if you give each writer of a psalm a writting credit.
