Uninstall all that Adobe Acrobat crap you've got and use this. It actually doesn't crash or suck up hundreds of MB of memory, unlike the aforementioned Adobe product.

Good one Cale! Deleted and installed

I use a little app called PowerStrip to manage my vid card settings as opposed to the bulky and poorly interfaced software provided by the manufacturer. This app allows custom refresh rates and resolutions, easy over clocking, excellent hotkey support (even in DirectX applications) and lots of other useful features.

Yeah I know its been out for a bit. We're still on 7.0.2 unfortunately. My biggest problem here is that the Domino servers share an LTPA token with a couple of other applications, and recently we were unable to upgrade those applications due to ristrictions on the Notes 7 servers.

i'm buying a new monitor and have a few questions.

1. Is there a difference between TFT-LCD (Samsung) and just LCD (LG)?
2. What does GTG mean for response time? 2ms vs 2ms(GTG) ?
3. Contrast Ratio, 3000:1 CR vs. DC 3000:1 (800:1 Static) ??

anything else i should know?

here are the two i'm considering:

Samsung

LG

Oh god there are a billion things to consider when buying a serious LCD monitor.

Most are shitass TN panels (twisted nematic) which offer really really low response times (that GTG shit, which is how fast a pixel can change from straight up grey, through the whole colour spectrum and back to that grey). The viewing angle vertically is usually shitty though.

As for contrast ratio, I'll let someone else explain it.

quote:

Well, firstly the contrast ratios of LCDs are getting much better due to something called dynamic contrast, back a few years 400:1 was generally the best you could find now you'll regually see 1000,2000:1 ratios but they're sorta cheating. Dynamic contrast means basically if the screen is showing something dark, it can tune down the power to the backlight so that it appears darker, but the issue with that is if you have to display an image which is light and dark at the same time, it cant be utilised to full extent.

Short and sweet: Buy an expensive Dell if you want the best, as they typically use S-IPS type panels.

Big Ears In-Ear Canalphones/Earbuds

just looking for suggestions on my next purchase (preferably based on your personal experiences with any of the products)

I used a pair of Creative EP-630s for about a year until the sound from the left piece died out last night...they weren't bad at all for the cost (<$35) and definitely a big improvement from the crappy iPod headphones.

so now I want to upgrade to something better.

My needs:
1. Budget - $100 or less.
2. Sound Quality -
Doesn't have to be a balanced response like monitors since I'll only be using these for casual listening (home, commuting, etc) but the sound should still be clear and crisp with emphasis on bass to some extent since they'll mainly be for electronic music.
3. Comfort - shouldn't be an issue since almost all of them come with sleeves in different sizes
4. Build Quality - not an issue as long as the cable is not too short or long.

from searching around, I've narrowed my options down to the following:

Shure SE110
Shure SCL2 (apparently, they are new replacements for the Shure E2Cs in the market)

whats the difference between those two?
also open to any other suggestions...

p.s. not considering the UE Super.fi 3 Studio earphones because I don't like the fact that they'll be sticking out from my ears

I don't know the difference, but I can tell you the E2C's are awesome! They take a few days of listening to warm up (very strange), but they sounded even better after the first week.

If you are major into bass, then I might think twice. Although they were good, they just don't pump for dnb and hip hop. I prefer my hi's, so I didn't mind.

dnb and hip hop on my ipod is a strict no-no. lol

but I just don't want anything that will make the bass sound muffled (I doubt any of the shure's do). I actually prefer my mids..

any experience with the sony's?

Sony’s MDREX75SL EX Series Earbud Headphones

or

Sony's MDREX85LPB Bud-Style Headphones - Black

I've heard they have a better bass response compared to the lower range Shures or UE's....but the bass shouldm't be all boomy either.

how is the fit of the E2Cs? they look kinda bulbous compared to the new SE110s.

Apparently..the E2Cs are part of their pro audio line while the SE110s are part of their recently launched consumer line

Check reviews on CNET. From what I remember, the Sonys were plagued by shitty cords.
