It seems like a cool gimmick I suppose.

Personally, I have to use the shutter system to cue so that would sound really really fucking dumb on the dancefloor.

What is the extra CDJ for? Are you guys actually going to use it? And how so? Mash-ups or sampling?

3 tracks at the same time? or using one track going and loops from two others or two tracks going and loops from the third cdj. all to make it sound perfectly inbeat..like one song. and its definitely not a "gimmick"... ive heard them mix without headphones a bunch of times before and everytime it sounded as if they had headphones and you never noticed when a new song was coming in. there will be nothing sounding fucking dumb on the dancefloor they have it down packed.

wish i could go but i have three exams in three days starting the monday so i cant be going out. rip velvet to shreds guys!

Why are you guys so defensive about everything?

I didn't say what they were doing would sound dumb, I said cueing with the shutter system without headphones would sound dumb. And it would.

And it is a gimmick if it serves absolutely no purpose apart from being able to do so, which I admit is impressive but I don't see the point.

And I know what 3 cdjs CAN be used for, I was asking Haki and Moe what THEY will be using them for because I was interested.

Errr, ok, no idea how anything from your post could have been taken as a joke man.

But whatever, it's all good, I'm actually going to come to this and see what the Hakster is playing these days.

TIK TAK TEK @ VELVET LOUNGE TONIGHT APRIL 11 (420 St-Gabriel, Old Montreal) 10$w/G.L. 10pm-3am

With less than 10 hours to go, here are some of the things you could miss not attending this one:

The Machinist (Rene Benoit, RNC Mtl) will be showing us in the Velvet's alcôve why the talk is growing around this one: event organiser with the intimate Frequency pt. I and pt. 2 @ Vinyl, prolific producer (you can expect this guy to be released soon - we can only hope he'll drop us one of his prods tonight ; ) and starting to get some recognition after playing a few times at Lost Tribe some insane gigs - I remember that he stole part of the show in January ; ) His sound is, as often the case with underground DJs, unique. Funked up tech with just enough darkness... the timing of this booking is just perfect: René Benoit is exploding tonight at 10pm. Shibuya dawg, you know you gotta send that bullet to me ; ) Stay sharp [Pharcyde: Running Away]

Rick Laplante (Sunrise Afterhours, Ott.) The Sundaze resident DJ and promoter posted on Tik Tak Tek's wall how pumped he was about his one. Here's a 3 years back quote I found in Matthew Harrison's "Good Daze Ahead": Keeping it to laid-back house, Laplante said he'll continue profiling unknown DJs and plans to bring in more out-of-towners such as Bryan Wolf-Ear, an aboriginal DJ and member of Montreal's Twisted Mafia Crew (experimental house) who headlines the anniversary party with Mike James on Sunday November 13 from 6am to 4pm [end quote]..." The underground is well and alive tonight, and I can't wait to hear some of that deep sound he's been teasing about.

Hakim Guelmi is our host tonight -- with 6 gigs this month, Haki chose to keep the edge and throw this event. And this is just probably one of the other multiple reasons to attend this one: this guy keeps the fire running. Respect. At the menu, a nicely sizzled headphoneless tag with Underdog mate dark n' twisted electro mastermind Moevalith (Akarien, PU Mtl). As they have been doing alot lately at Future, both will be reunited behind the deck, battling it out on 3 CDJ-800s and Zone 92 Mixer, and just sending waves of electronic bliss. BOOM TSIK BOYS!

Unmissable.

I'll see you all tonight, with a smile on your face and that dancing bug itching all over. Peace and love. Underground style.

Alright people, tonight is the night that we bring you to the Tek Bazaar.

I honestly can't wait for this; stellar lineup, new dj booth setup, strobe lights, smoke machine, headphoneless tag team, cheap drinks, intimate dancefloor, dark atmosphere, everything I need lol. More especially since is the 2nd last velvet party we have in front of us.

Hope to see some old TA friends, been a while since I spoke to many of you, would be nice to catch up, "let's do what tupac and biggie never managed" ;-)

SEE YOU TONIGHT!!!

A Boomtisks Dancing Bug Multiplier,
Moevalith

got there around 130am after work...

gotta start off by saying: hakim and moe were the first dudes out there who gave me the time of day and took the time and taught me my first EDM/mixing/beatmatching lessons...and with alot of patience from their end, they passed on some of those lessons to me (which i'll always be thankful for).

last night, these guys far exceeded (expectedly) the heightened potential i always knew they had in them and ya, even though i don't have their technique from last night down in my mind 100%, all i can say is that they pulled off some super cool-looking and cool-sounding stuff. it just looks neat without headphones, what else can i say? some cool tikky tekky takky beats all around, track of the night: Dousk - Hammer (still can't get enough of that track wouuuu it goes down so well) and i hadn't heard it on a big system so thanks haki

one thing i hafta mention though: there really are far waaaaaaay too many pilled-out people or coked up or ketamined up or whatever the hell it is people were on last night; SCARY to watch and almost a total deterrent AWAY from the party. Who does shit like that at 10pm-3am clubs? It's just really scary when they can't control their mouths anymore but whatever, comes with alot of 10pm-3am parties i guess, just not the ones i usually go to.

i'm just really happy for you guys and especially proud to have had the chance to see you guys work your way from rock bottom all the way up to where you guys are now...it's really something else.

'perseverance' is the word that defines you two to a tee and i'll never EVER stop being so completely proud of you guys for that i saw you guys when you were both first starting out and it's just really something else for me to see how far you've brought yourselves today.

i hadn't been full-on showing my support for the underdog crew for quite some time now but please guys, always know, whether i come out or not, that you guys, your projects and your dreams are always supported in my heart forever

now's let's all group hug and smoke a joint i love you guyssssss
