I love that too t0ast! I was dancing to Dj Micro with a whole crowd of people. I had my eyes closed and when I dropped my glow stick, I opened my eyes to get it and realized that a big circle formed around me. I loved that and just went nuts!
Anyway, IMO, I think that when you encounter people who aren't dancing, it's not because you suck as a dj, it's because you don't know which places to take up the offer to spin at. On a previous post, someone said their friends can't dance to trance. Even though that baffles me, you have to know what the crowd will be like ahead of time. Paul Oakenfold could play for people that don't like trance and not get anyone to dance! Look at the other djs in the line-up. If you are the only one spinning, make sure they want trance and only trance etc. Playing small house parties/graduation parties I would expect people not to dance. People are shy and they aren't there for the rave environment, they are there to celebrate graduation! People go to clubs to dance and drink, but you have pick and choose your offers.
