LOL at people arguing over my track.

For the record, I did fuss quite a bit over the bass, even A/B'ed it against a lot of commercial tracks in my library and felt that it was more or less on par. Having said that, I don't have fancy studio monitors or a heavy-duty club system, or even the best ear by any objective standard, so I don't claim to be 100% accurate in that judgment. I did indeed think quite a bit about the mixing, but Booster is probably right in that I tend to be more interested in the composition and arrangement.

Also amused by the comment about the glitches (and thank you). That's just one of the Aigis gimmicks I referred to at the beginning. I can't make a track without them anymore, else people just tell me something's missing, heh. Those stutter edits can be a bitch to get right so I'm glad a few people appreciate the work that goes into it!

Yeah, it definitely gets a little busy in spots. I think it's actually not over-layering, but just some weak and lazy mixing. I kind of intended to get back to the segment where the electro (sorry, video game ) lead is playing and even it out, but I was sick of it. Sorry.

Thanks again for your comments!

Who cares about bass??

Freaking mindblowing fx!!!

10/10 for me instantly.

I would try to spice up the perc a bit. But the retro feel is awesome!! finally something refreshing

to be honest, i think this song isn't as good as it could be. the intro is cool and i expected to be really impressed after this, but it didn't happen. heres my thoughts:

other than the electronic flute kind of sound at 2:40 (which i can't stand), the sounds are great! very retro. i will say though, that none of them are very phat, particularly the bass. something like the waves/voxengo bass enhancers will help alot, although it sounds to me it is more about how you have mixed the song.

drums are horrible, seriously. this is the worst part of the song. i can appreciate that you're trying to bring the retro by using these basic sounds, but they need alot more processing to sound good. i think the patterns could be improved too... there aren't enough (any?) change ups.

poor arrangement. it's extremely difficult to follow. i know it's the creative "thing" to not make your music repetitive and so forth, but imo this principle makes bad music. our brains think in patterns. once you deviate from this too much, it becomes not very nice to listen to. have a break down!

the effects are too full on, it makes it sound like video game music.

you have a very good idea here though. the only reason i'm being this harsh is because it's well below it's potential and you could make this a really awesome track!

Massive - thanks, much appreciated.

echosystm: Thanks for the tips and I'd say those are generally all good points. Although (IMO) the "not repetitive makes bad music" line was classic hilarity. I think we'll have to agree to disagree on that particular issue.

Cheers!
