buy the gear because it will get you laid. I am willing to bet if you have a DJM-800 and whatever your using hopefully it is turntables and you have them in a nice DJ coffin on a table of some sort. Walmart sell some for like 30 dollars like what you would find in a school and had some JBLS then people would see your stuff and be like damn thats a phatass setup. But JBL does have kits for around $3000 dollars or roughly 2500 that have two subwoofers and amp and the two monitors and you know what its all the same company and you dont have a bunch of offbrand stuff. But your pushing the threshold of loud like bass your whole house loud. neighbors complaining loud. even with the JBLS (two speaker kit) you will blast the neighborhood but if your shelling out money then spend the money one time and not go out and half to buy more gear later on down the road because of diffrent needs. although they are loud you can always turn them down.

I think my chick magnet dj setup is alot cooler. I WOULD SAY FxCK THAT OTHER CRAP! Just like the dude at the store.

^^^ LOL! Well, here's my setup:

2 x Technics SL 1200MK2
Pioneer DJM-800
Serato Scratch Live V2
2.4 Gz Laptop w/ decent soundcard, Windows XP / Intel
(speakers, to be determined)

---------

For me the biggest challenge would be not that of getting laid, but of getting big enough crowd for a house party ...

He doesn't need JBL monitors when he is starting out... What he has will work just fine with a good amp (cheap good amp)..

Magetonium.. This is all you would need.. and you can probably find something a bit cheaper if you look around...

Click,..

Dam, thats a US store ... I'll see what my local Hamilton Ontario stores have for an amp ... thanks for the recommendations.

Y-cables .... hmmmm ... keep recommendations coming, I'm learning a lot this week. So far I think I understand the concepts presented.

Personally I would go with a pair of these.

http://www.axemusic.com/product.asp...14296&PT_ID=231

They are loud, clear, and will be less hassle. XLR cables straight from the speakers into your mixer. All for the same price..

All for about the same price.

EDIT: It would actually be cheaper.. I missed that you would be getting 2 of the Peaveys' @ $500/each..

Thanks for the recommendation ... I live in such a shitty area of Canada (Hamilton, Ontario) that there's absolutely NOTHING here when it comes to good vinyl, DJ equipment, speakers, etc. for a good price and selection. I end up paying ridiculous shipping prices and customs fees and STILL cheaper than local stores. Thats sad.

People's EDM knowledge and interest is just as low and as horrible as well. So yeah, my biggest concern would be to draw large enough crowds for my DJ gigs ...

I couldnt find ANY JBL's, for example ... and the one time I did find JBL's I wanted, they were almost 3 times more in price than listed on American website ....
