Good to see he's discovered Ali Nasser, but the mix is complete filth. It's crap. There's no point to play 5 loops together if it doesn't do anything...beeep-beep-bep-beep-beep..total rubbish..

He's lost the passion for music and has become commercial..he didn't even remember any wmc tracks he liked..why would you remember any of this beep-violated meaningless crap? All my respect for Hawtin has been washed down the drain.

Dinky's RA owns this "masterpiece" even Sascha Dive's RA is far more superior

Sadly i have to agree with large parts of this statement. Don't get me wrong, the last time I seen hawtin he rocked it big time, but that was a while ago now, the more I see of his set lists and the output from his once great minus and plus 8 labels the more I ask myself what the fuck is he doing.

I didn't think much of sascha dive mix tbh, but yeah the dinky one was very decent. On the whole tho i find most RA podcasts a bit of a letdown.

I saw Hawtin @ The Bridge in London 06..then the beep-set wasn't so irritating..but next year..nothing had changed..disappointing! Troy knows the crack!

Dinky had some special edits in her mix...for example an edit of mountain people 04...really deep & great!

I'm not a huge Hawtin fan, but I dug this mix right after about the 20-25 min mark. It starts to pick up around there with this one track with the spanish vocals playing overtop (an acappella?). Pretty good techno afterwards and it ends with this euphoric airy sound.

Overall not bad, just the start a bit bleep bloopy in a bad way.

it's ok to just not like something, guys. you don't have to choose between worship & riot.

it had some nice bits, but it definitely wasn't memorable.

the point of playing 5 loops together is for your own amusement/challenge. it's more interesting for the dj than just playing one. I'm not saying that it's necessarily 'better,' but it is harder. 'going commercial' might be summarized as doing things for the sole purpose of the end result on listeners/consumers. it doesn't make much sense to criticize somebody for ignoring the listeners by being self-indulgent at their expense, but also for 'selling out' or 'becoming commercial.'

He hasen't cared for the music for a while now...minus is a full-on commercial operation - haven't you realised it?

I feel sorry for people who let other people's tastes dictate what they do and do not listen to. It must be awful to even be one the border of such mindlessness.

And this mix was utter shit, even for Hawtin (whom I still apparently fail to "get").

I played the mix in my car, which has great sound and it really became clear to me that this kind of music will only be fully appreciated with good speakers/sound. Not that I don't already appreciate the music for what it is but I can see why someone might think otherwise if minimal techno is new to them and they aren't getting all of the sounds out of their speakers, especially the basslines.

This mix is madness!

Minimal isn't new to me and I listened to it on my 7506's.

You can't polish a turd, and I thought this was as shit as they come.

Somewhat off topic: This isn't the first time someone has told me I have to "listen to Hawtin on the right speakers to appreciate it" - and each time I hear it, I feel like that statement is more and more ridiculous. Sure, nothing is going to sound good on total shit speakers, but being able to hear two different high hats go "tiss" and distinguish between the two hasn't made me appreciate even for a minute the kind of pretentious nonsense that people seem to perceive in Hawtin.

And whether or not I'm the first to say it is irrelevant, but what he's doing isn't hard. I don't see how people get all wet just because he's playing 5 tracks at once that have so little going on in them you could literally pick any 5 tracks from his case, play them all one on top of the other, and still not even sound like you're playing a full track.
