I rate albums as a whole, not individual tracks.

Yeah, a good album is the one in which tracks flow perfectly with each other. Even if most of the content is just average, a key to making a good album is to have tracks complete each other's so-so sides, forming one harmonious whole. Good albums are the ones that have to be listened all the way through to be fully appreciated.

That's true of concept albums, but some albums really are just a collection of disjointed tracks.

Exactly. And I don't tend to look them as albums, just as at a collection of tracks.

Most albums are just a collection of disjointed tracks. Or different tracks with just the silent gap removed.. I dont think all gapless album have the intention of creating a 'journey'.. instead silent gaps are removed just to keep the music flowing instead of awkward silence and wait to next track.

Well when you say good album... I assume your talking about like how I'd talk about it as in an album thats about flow not just a bunch of tracks for sets. I'd expect all the tracks to be good... and no more than 2 of them to not be excellent. The perfect album=IM the gathering.
