Fuck FUCK the decorations. Have boarded up windows, cigarette burnt carpet, a sink full of dirty dishes. seat less toilet seats, Bullet holes in the coffee table, beer posters with models on the wall in the living room, fish tank with murky water and a motha fucking tv that doesnt work.

This is probably the most important one though as you have a a yellow-ish/cream floor from the sounds of it and you can accent it with a fair variety of colours.
Have a look through the rest of that site though and you might get some ideas.
