to me, much of it (not all) is dnb version 2. because a lot of the same sounds and tricks are used. the wuuahh wu wu wuahh wonky buzzing bass is a signature sound in a lot of them. example:

You just named two reasons (among others) why I like dubstep.
It sounds like drum'n'bass and it sounds British.
Oh, and music is one of Britain's best exports.
