Go back to school...

It has nothing to do with bandwidth or server resources, both of which these forums have plenty of growth room for...

Lots of good changes will come on the site in the next few months and this is one that was long overdue - some sigs were getting way out of hand and some ppl looked at their sigs as their own personal advertising space (which is fine, but within reason...)

For example, having a huge banner for your mp3 site in your sig and then not having TranceAddict on your links page seems pretty cheap to me.

Also, all forums content (text) is GZIP compressed before being sent out to your browser - so a thread's text takes up 90,000 bytes then only 15,000 bytes or so are sent to your browser - (same for any page you see anywhere on TA)... Only a small % of sites bother to enable/install this mod but it makes a world of difference.

Cool!
I'm glad to hear that bandwidth and server rources aren't the issue.
(I was gettin' worried...)

I look forward to all the great changes

[EDIT]
Hey Swamper, is there any way within the search feature for the results to reflect the page within the found post.
Many times my search results come up with threads that are just too huge to both sifting through...might as well have a search for the search results
Can it be configured to be more granular?

i don't want to disable the viewing of sigs in post because i like to see text signatures showing the users wanted and top tracks. i just don't want to see huge pictures.

^^^to damo: yes...hamilton is the armpit of southern ontario. i really don't like hamilton. also, if i could afford broadband i would get it. some of us don't still live with mommy and daddy . i've been on my own since i was 17 and i've just finished putting myself through college. if i had the money i would probably get it...except now, i don't know after hearing about the bit caps.

i agree.

i'm on Cable, but big pictures get REAL annoying.

I think Text-Only would be appropriate. you can be creative with Text, trust me.

wOrd! LMAO... On eof the reasons i got cable!

Here are my personal opinions

1. It seems everyone is ignoring what i have seen bilk say over and over.... There is an option in your profile! Use it if you dont want to see sigs! Jeeezzeeee

2. Sigs are cool and help me see who has posted what easier and quicker, as do avatars. But i agree there shoudl be a limit in size (Bytes aswell as Pixels) for the poor 56kers.
