So you would rather turn on CNN and see bush playing golf, waving his hand to the camera men w/ that dumb look of "what's going on bro?" on his face?

i understand where you're coming from....but, really, how would you feel if that's what you saw? and then the next clip was of how many people died overseas that same day? wouldn't that infuriate you more?

I didn't elect him, but yes I can very easily believe that many other people did. These are the same people who believe they are qualified to evaluate candidates on the basis of proposed economic policies, yet they can't even keep their own finances in order. How do they presume to think that they have the foggiest idea what constitutes sound economic policy? Well, it is because one of the characteristic ironies of stupidity is that the fool is too foolish to realize that he is a fool. But this is really how the typical person operates in every aspect of their lives, so it does not surprise me at all that they have elected and later re-elected such an individual. It does not surprise me because that is precisely the system we have chosen: democracy -- government by fools.

Nixon, after resignation, had a 24%. Before resigning it had been a full 25 points higher (49%). I should remind you that Nixon's numbers dropped because he did something obviously illegal.

Bush's numbers? Well, in February the American Research Group clocked him at a whopping 19% (all-time low). So yeah, sometimes I wish I lived in those days as well.

i wasn't meaning to compare them...i was referencing the decade, and all the shit that went on in the 60s.

Again, you've completely missed the point. Nobody gives two shits about him playing golf. What we're pissed about is what he said -

“I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander in chief playing golf,” he said. “I feel I owe it to the families to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal.”

Solidarity? The ole Commander in Chief doesn't play golf anymore so that he feels better about sending our boys off to die for no good reason? Yeah, I'm sure those mothers feel a whole lot better knowing he's made sacrifices as well.

i know it sounds stupid. ok, i know it is stupid that he feels that way....but wouldn't you be upset if you were someone's parent, who's kid was just shipped out, and you turn on the TV and you see him giving some speech about "war this, war that...now...watch me sink this shot" and the camera pans away and he bogies on the 8th hole.

come to think of it, didn't someone parody something like that before? or was it a parody? i can't even remember anymore, so much stupid shit has gone on in the past decade. seriously the 2000s have been kinda f'd up.

Him giving up his hobby, or them shooting him doing his hobby, has no effect on the war, the outcome of the war, or if some 18yr old or some 50yr old goes to war.

no, of course it doesn't. but it has an effect on the human persona, doesn't it?

to me, if i was some kid's parent, and i saw him giving this speech, i'd think, "man, what an idiot" and move on.

if i saw him in the scenario i described above, i'd be a little more pissed off, i think.

It's really a shame Cheney decided not to run!

Wouldn't have mattered how much Obama and Hillary go after each other

I can
Everyone gets suckered at least once in their life, that happens.
Doing it twice though? Kind of embarrassing!

USA must be so ashamed of this man. We have terrible politicians too, but someone so stupid with so much power is just sad.

Bush may not be THE SMARTEST OF ALL the presidents, but I doubt he's ACTUALLY as stupid as everyone makes him out to be.

He makes an ass of himself in public, believe it or not not all politicians are great in front of the camera or huge audiences. He isn't charismatic at all, and he fumbles with words because he's nervous all the time but that doesn't make him stupid.

Cheney makes an ass of himself every time he gets anywhere NEAR a camera or a microphone, and we know he isn't stupid, just evil.

Voted for him and proud of it. If Gore got or Kerry (ugh) got into office, no good. Just chose the lesser of two evils both times, methinks.
