When I was in college there was a 30 year old chinese freshman in my dorm who had a similar problem with his body stench and dental hygene. One night I taped a toothbrush and cologne sample to his door with a note saying "try these, they work wonders." He still didn't get the hint. I think setting him up to get fired is the only way out, man.

Ask him what kind of deodorant he uses/laundry detergent/etc.

there used to be a guy who worked in my office who came in everyday reeking of booze and cigarettes (and sometimes pot). they actually put one of those big ionic air purifiers in his cubicle because so many people complained about the stank.

He's the nicest guy ever, but he wears the same shirt to work every day with the same black jacket over top covered in white cat hair and when he leans over me sometimes I get this intense wave of tangy body odour.

You need to be fairly straight up with this person. There's no overly "nice" way to tell someone they smell, lol. We had the same problem at work with someone last year. Fortunately I work in the health care field and we actually do have strict hygiene policies, so we just reminded her that all employees are expected to shower/bathe and be in a fresh uniform when they come to work.

Do what I did w/ one of my suitemates (who I can't believe really never showered): call him/her Smelly by name :P
