Actually Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system even though Mercury is closer to the sun. It's because of all the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere (greenhouse gas) = warm as hell.

I had this book as a kid about the solar system, a school class from the futures travels to the different planets and stuff. I loved it. Read it every day.

i was huge into astronomy as a kid....wanted to be an astonaut and/or astronomer for the longest time.

neptune was my favorite planet.
