It's known as the "historian's fallacy". It's still important to do this, to redefine your values, but context is always valuable.

Yes, it's important to redefine your values when you have none to begin with.

recently it has been military. for the most part, it isn't so much that they are necessarily increasing expenses while advocating lower taxes, the problem is they don't want to lower expenses commensurate with the lower revenue.

it's not that surprising that Reagan would fail to understand basic finances as the man was an actor who graduated from a school of questionable credibility; however, it's amazing that Bush somehow managed to graduate from Havard with an MBA after seeing his amazingly poor financial skills and short-sighted economic proposals.

the graph on US national debt since WW2 is fucking simple and obvious, that it stuns me how either Bush was elected to office.

What the hell is wrong with the Democrats? Why have they failed to demonstrate this SIMPLE truth in previous campaigns? How are people so stupid to believe Republicans who are saying that cutting taxes but increasing debt to fight a war that hasn't had ANY positive aspects is a good thing for the US.

If John McCain wins this election, I think two things will be proven. 1) the American people are fucked and 2) The Democratic Party is tit fucking useless.
