Arabic or Chinese?
Aren't they both basically the most difficult to learn? |

Utter nonsense. There are just two "difficult" things about Mandarin, for most speakers of European languages:
- The phonology (i.e. the sounds)
- The written system (which has nothing to do with the language)
The grammar, as a whole, is pretty much like Lego. Words are considerably tiny, they usually come the way you expect them to come (that is, Subject-Verb-Object), and you don't need to bother with declension and stuff like that.
So, no, Chinese shouldn't be harder than any other language. |
The same applies to Arabic, regarding complexity. Sure, all languages require a lot of effort in order to be mastered, but they don't differ that much in complexity from one another. They're all logic, so to speak, otherwise it would be extremely difficult for native speakers to form novel sentences.
And, should there be an über-complex language, it certainly isn't a language spoken by more than 10 million peope, because they're learnt by immigrants and millions of children all the time.
