True lucid dreams are actually dreams; however, hypnagogic hallucinations (those that happen during the transition period between wakefullness and sleep) are often misidentified by the "dreamer" as being lucid dreams.

Hard to say, since I think a lot of people tend to "lucid dream" either when first going to sleep or in the morning after having woken up once or twice. So a lot of them might be hallucinations, as Moral Hazard said.

I have this happen a bit. Usually when I go back in I get a rapid change in my dream. It will go darker, crazier, brighter or happier. It really depends on the dream for me.

I wish I dreamed more than I do, but it rarely happens - and I've never experienced a lucid dream.

I don't dream very often, either.

I wish there were a way to choose when I wanted to dream, and for how long. Dreams are so weird and interesting when I have them. If only there were a way to just turn them on and off. Then I could choose to have a few dreams whenever I was bored.

Isn't that how you spend your whole life?

And I don't think we've ever talked about the lucid dream you had (at least I don't remember it), what was it about? What could you do/control?

Lately I've been realizing I'm dreaming while in dreams, and getting a little bit of control over what I'm doing in them. It started a few months ago where I was in a dream going around these big concrete ruins/rubble, with huge concrete structures hundreds of feet high near a beach. I was on a big slab really high up, and there was muddy sand at the bottom, and I was trying to figure out how to get down from like, 300ft, and then I just thought...whats the worst that could happen, you're in a dream. I jumped and fell slowly and just landed fine at the bottom.

Then a few weeks ago I was in this huge old abandoned mansion and I figured out how to jump really high and kind of push off of things as if underwater or in space, almost being able to fly, but not quite.

Also, fucking. Once you figure out you're dreaming, its like being drunk. Inhibitions go out the window.

it was a sex dream, and i could control everything.

it happened about 5 years ago. i just remember being really stressed out in my personal life back then, and i felt so liberated and comfortable and happy in the dream... so when i realized i could do whatever i wanted, i pretty much attacked the guy that was in the dream with me. the oddest thing though is that it all felt so real, and the guy who was in the dream was just a close friend rather than a guy i was dating or someone i'd want to hook up with... so i felt all awkward for having a dream like that about a friend.
