An 8 year old can also shoot a 22 like it's nobody's business. In a situation inside your home, the distance you will be from your target is virtually irrelevant of what type of gun you are using. And it takes more than 30 minutes to learn how to use a gun properly.....
Issue isn't pulling the trigger, issue is being able to handle the gun. I.E - moving with the gun, moving the gun in the right direction, hitting your target, and handling the recoil in case a second or third shot is needed. A 4 foot gun with a 28" barrel is not easy to do that for most people. Something with a 4" barrel is.
Then again, you should know this already.....
