Artist Focus - Rob "Activa" Stevenson

I've decided to do 30 minutes on each podcast on a specific artist. Those of you who listen to the podcast on a regular basis will have noticed atleast 1 of Rob's tracks in every episode recently.

Co-Owner of Conspiracy Recordings Rob is no new comer to the trance scene yet it seems to have taken a little longer for him to get noticed. Now getting the credit he deserves with an extensive discography spanning accross labels such as Van Dyk's Vandit, Tiesto's Black Hole & John Askews Discover records things just keep getting better for the York based producer.

Last year Paul Van Dyk named Rob as his producer of the year in the DJ Mag top 100 Poll not to mention he has just released his first "Live As..." compilation CD on Discover, cementing him as one of the true rising stars.

I decided to go back to the old format, for the simple reason I just don't have enough free time to produce a 2 hour show inbetween everything else. Hopefully this won't disapoint many people. I will say I have recently learned quite a lot of new DJ tricks which you will no doubt hear in my mixes from now on. I will also try to get a few more guest mixes on the go. Anyway, I think this is one of the best episodes but I'll let you lot judge it.

April 2009 has been quite a good month for me, having received a wicked reception at Statik with Jon O'Bir and getting quite a few new productions finished including a new solo track and remix both of which will be released on Soup Recordings this summer. I'm also busy on the remix front with my alias Mr M for some other labels which I can't say too much about at the moment. This months podcast isn't as good in my opinion as last months but as ever I'll let you be the judge. For me the stand out track is crash into reason, moonbeam doing the damage once again and Goosebumps also deserves a mention!
