We're saying that the teaching conditions will be terrible, not necessarily that all the kids will be uninterested. The original posts indicated a desire to teach technology and I'm of the understanding that this will most likely not happen given the poor budgets of most schools. He'll be lucky to teach MSWord.

I'm sure there will be several students genuinely interested in learning that he may get through to. Like I said, that wasn't the point of the original post. Maybe I misunderstood the philanthropist drive though. I thought the goal was to get some experience, have an interesting time, teach technology, and live in the US.

If his goal is to "get through to at least one or two students" there are many other alternatives to TFA that he could pursue which don't involve miserable teaching circumstances. To teach for TFA requires that selfless drive to take a lot of shit and only have tangible results with one or two kids, if you're lucky. I just didn't see that selfless drive in the first few posts, only the desire to live in the US and teach tech.

It just doesn't compute.
