It seems to me like the promoter is ignoring the comments about parking and security from EDC. That's probably the only thing that is turning me off from actually making a trip down for this. |
This was posted in the EDC review thread:
| quote: | Thanks for getting in touch. We totally agree that the long wait and line outside was out of control and we're going to make sure it never happens again. Some of the steps we are planning to take (along with many more) are:
- Opening the doors much earlier, including doing a soft open where we begin admitting people to the show before the event officially begins
- Building multiple entrances on opposing sides of the coliseum to balance the crowds. If you've ever been to a USC football game, that should give you a good idea of what sort of entrance layout we'll be using in the future.
- Increasing the number of turnstiles per entrance as well as aggressively ramping up the amount of security staff present at the entrances to help speed up the security screening process.
The security staff were both unprepared and understaffed. Unfortunately, the Coliseum has a contract with the security company (CSC Event Security) that prevents us from hiring our own, more professional security staff that are better suited to dealing with the large crowds who attend our events. Next time we are going to heavily manage the security staff to make sure they do a much better job.
The long wait was in no way planned and we would never do such a thing in the hope that we sell more VIP tickets because of a long general admission line.
I also agree with you about the parking situation as well, unfortunately that is also out of our control. The lots around the Coliseum are owned and operated by independent companies who pretty much just gouge people who come to the area for events. I wish USC or the Coliseum would use their clout to bring these people under control, but I don't think it will happen any time soon.
We always put the people who attend our shows ahead of greed, unfortunately the companies we are sometimes forced to partner with don't share the same idea. Our main goal is to make sure everyone has a good time - if that doesn't happen, we haven't done our job. Long lines, bad security and expensive parking are things we dislike just as much as the people who deal with it firsthand.
Thanks for getting in touch and for coming to the show, I hope you still managed to enjoy yourself on Saturday despite the problems you encountered.
Thanks,
Matt
