By the way, that was a terrible analogy.
what are you on about?
the guitar puritan would require a gibson or a fender, a concert pianist would insist on a steinway. a purist DJ would only use technics. but it doesn't mean that they're not shite at what they do. it doesn't matter what equipment you are using. you can be a spoiled shit and own 5 grand of equipment and be completely useless.
DJing should be something selfless anyway. you're doing it foremostly for the entertainment of the people dancing in front of you. I take a look at the booths of clubs i've never been to before to see if there's something new i've not seen before being used. I don't criticise the DJ for using a Macbook. fuck that.

The argument is about the equipment itself, not the brand.
A better analogy would be the guitarist all of a sudden using a program that makes him sound much better than he actually would on a guitar.

Would Traktor actually make one sound better? The whole digital vs. analog debate aside, I didn't think the sound quality from Traktor was all that great, even when using 320kbps mp3s. Maybe it was because Traktor does decompressing and pitch adjustment on the fly or I was limited by my CPU.
As far as making one sound better, all I can think of is auto-beatmatching. I suppose you're less likely to trainwreck, or can have the program recover a bad beatmatch for you.

it also shows that it doesn't matter what you use, you can't polish a turd and the cream rises to the top.
probably not, but like i said, if you asked them, im sure they would give their respect to records
