The big problem is the fashionably late crowd. If there is an event this big, people still think they can show up late and everything will be fine. But then everyone else thinks that too, then you get a huge mess.
If you decide to go when it opens, you get no traffic, quick parking very short line and get in just about when it opens. |
Not this year. I know of someone who got there at noon and still had a two hour wait once the gates opened.
Sure, you expect lines. But not 3+ hour lines. Insomniac doesn't get a pass for that. They fucked up massively. And they have tons of experience.

OK enough about the parking!~ me and all my friends parked about a 10 minute walk away at a meter (which u dotn have to pay passed 6). I waS pissed when i was waiting in line and i feel they should have had more entrances but we are talking an upwards of 60,000 ppl all trying to get into the saaaaaaaame place...

I guess I should really just edit my post because my main, honest to god concern is the lack of any attempt at organizing the lines.
People are getting next to trampled, and for those of us suckers who play it fair to keep our scene friendly, waiting fairly in line is retarded when about 25% of all people there have cut anyway.
Could renting a thousand feet of those portable fence barriers that groovetickets has cost them that much more out of their profits?
No, they just don't care.

im surprise nobody said anything about how shitty the sound system at the main stage was. i could BARELY hear or feel the bass vibrating the floor. and the speakers wasnt even that loud, sounded like a laptop was playing music from the back of KINETICfield. seems like the only time they turned it up was when moby came on, then it got turned back down. wtf was that shit?!
other rooms were banging especially CIRCUITgrounds, the sound system in there was off the chain.
EDC was still tight, the set up, the dj's except the line to get in. thats what killed my vibe. i would still attend another insomniac events because their parties are normally tight ass hell. dont know what happened with this years EDC though

You would also need security to police the lines.
The lines were bad enough, all the cutting just made the wait much longer than it needed to be.
