He was deemed guilty and his sentence was decided ages ago. If you're allowed to go "oh and.." 16 years later, why do we even have a legal system to begin with? Let's just burn people at the stake when we think they're warlocks.

I wouldn't burn warlocks, but i cant say i would have the same objections about rapists.

What if they summoned a flock of red dragons that have tormented your kingdom for eons?

I would send wizards after them.

And if all else fails, i would stage a couple of attacks in my and their territories and blame it on those necromancer freaks, then invite the warlocks to join forces with me, so that we can completely eradicate our common enemy. Then if after the victorious battle they were willing to cease all hostilities i would let it go at that, but just in the case that the weren't, i would have a legion of dwarf bombardiers hidden behind some nearby hill so that they could unleash hells furry on the warlocks without them even knowing what hit them.

Don't worry, i have shit like this all figured out, just in case i somehow one day find myself in a fantasy world. All those hours of playing strategy and rpg games didn't go to waste.

funny how almost every post discusses rape, but this case was about attempted rape/assault, which is total gray area to me. Statute of limitations should hold imo.

Civil case != Criminal case. If he was reasonably wealthy at the time, suing him would have made sense. He was not, and obviously displayed no signs of ever becoming reasonably wealthy. This lottery completely changed that, it's a one off event, and the statute of limitations has passed.

So, the judge, in a perfectly logical manner, allows her to sue him because this is an extremely unusual circumstance. If hundreds of people attempt to copy her after this, they will be dismissed immediately.

Civil punishment is ENTIRELY different from criminal punishment. A drunk driver can be sued on top of being put in jail. What's so hard to understand?

I completely agree with those who say that they have zero sympathy for rapists. I have no sympathy for whatever happens to him. None.

My whole qualm with this is that it's clearly a case where someone said, "Oh cool, this is an easy way for me to get some money!" That's it. That's what I find bullshit about this.

exactly. whether he has served time for his crime(s) is completely irrelevant when looking at a civil matter.

I can get a lot of money! SWEET!". It's been almost twenty years and she's only doing this because he won a shitload of money and she sees it as an opportunity.

who cares, he deserves to be fucked over by society every chance we get...u feel sorry for this piece of shit? hes an attempted rapist, he deserved to be hanged.
