Ignorant? Well I have lived in Europe and North America. Trance will not be ruined by having trance videos played, the source of trance will always be mostly from EU, but of course with gaining popularity here in NA it will bring more DJs/producers/artists into the genre as it gains in popularity.

To say that popularity will kill trance in NA, thats just silly.

More importantly you seem to think that in EU there isn't cheesy music, that record companies, radio/tv don't play cheesy popular music. Well they do, its very similar to here. Look at the UK top 20, its full of Britney Spears, N'Sync, etc...

The difference is that in most of EU there is a trance scene where theres a top 20 club listing, dance video countdown on MTVeurope, chill out on MTVeurope, and party tracks on friday night on MTVeurope.

The difference is not that money and popular music are king, the difference is trance a less popular form of music has its own strong following and thus gets its own music video shows, radio stations, etc.

You want to call me ignorant, fine, but I have seen first hand both continents approach to music, have you?

Many of my friends hear tracks like Heaven and Rapture on the radio and think the world of them. I then play a few top tracks like For an Angel, Silence, etc etc and they say "that's ooookkkkk I guess". They figure it's on the radio because it's good. I'm not so much worried about Canada but more about the US and MTV. I think it's fine having a channel that's not included in the reagular cable package(BPMTV) compared to MTV where everyone has that channel. I like BPMTV because they do play a lot of chessy tunes but they also play some nice quality one's. I can just see loads of young kids listening to trance because it's "cool", almost like it is now with rap/hip hop.

Have you guys ever thought about the long-term concequences If MTV or VH1 or Much started playing Trance? forget about the "end of the genre" you and I know that Trance music will never die in the hearts of REAL fans like us.

The main problem i am worried about is the commercialization of the music. People who are gonna watch the show, will start liking it, more and more people will start listening to it, leading the Dj's we know to produce more commercial trance just to satisfy the new fans. If this happens, the underground side of it will get smaller and the Dj's will soon catch on that commercial Trance sells more, so they will stop producing the real stuff that we listen to.

The dissadvantages out-weight the advantages IMO.

Thumbs up

I say that ..: who cares about all the concequences that will come from this... they won't care about Canada... ppl here listen to rap crap... if a person listens to rap ... they will not.. 100% listen to trance... therefore i think they should bring TMF or at least put some trance videos on that crappy Much Music... and CUT ELECTRIC CIRCUS!!!
