okay, tbh i've never had a pistachio before in my life. i feel left out.
no offense but i was under the assumption that elevation did the grunt work for that track.. isn't that what you said the last time i spoke with you?

never had a pistachio? dude your missing out on life, they are beyond mega.
no offense taken. the first track we worked on together Bounce 1 was mostly him. the second one, aplomb was about 70/30 me and the one Rob played that night, numen, was 90/10.
i have a couple of projects in the works right now. its just been hard to finish any tracks with the audio thing and the slow ass computer which is soon to be fixed.

anyways i never thought that ableton was the best platform to produce on (with the exception of it being a good sequencer) in the first place so i can't really help you out on that. what exactly is wrong with your audiophile other than the fact that it crashes consistently? are you looking for internal or external?
from the production studio i hear echo audiofire 4 or 8 firewire is a good buy

i am looking for an external card but I already said that above as well, lol. i know some people don’t care for it with production but I have tried others and the only other one worth a damn personally is logic. i will have to check out that card as well. thanks!

since 2.0? daaaamnnn! |
back before they had auto warp. we had to set every single fricken marker when warping samples and tracks.

if you are not doing any audio recording or do not need a box that will fan you out into multiple outs (for like djing with ableton or outputing to an external hardware mixer etc), then you dont need a soundcard other than the one that came with your computer...
the reason for this is all your mixing down is done within the computer anyway...you are staying all "1's and 0's" and as long as your computer can handle "1's and 0's" its only going to handle it as good as the mixdown algorithm of whatever program you are mixing down in.
logic, for me, has the best mixdown algorithm...however ableton is like second nature to me for chopping, audio editing, and general fucking around...so i rewire ableton into logic, and get the best of both worlds.
hope this helps. |
that is my bad. I should have stated that I plan on getting another MIDI Controller to use with it as well. I just sold my Ozone and plan on getting another one. that is another reason why I need the interface. I feel yeah on the mix down part. Logic is much better for the that, plus the sound on it is just so much better personally and its quicker and easier to do the mixdown.

had been in the same situation and heard good things about the firebox & echos, but wound up giving in & shelling out the extra bit of cash for the motu. aside from some annoyances with trying to use it as a regular sound card (irony), I'm glad I went that route. I know I won't need to upgrade for a long time. |
yeah that’s my thing as well. i am thinking that I would rather just spend the money now and not have to worry about being in the same situation I am in now by getting a cheap one.

Probably going to upgrade to the MOTU Ultralite in the future though. |
Yeah, I gotta give luv to the motu as well - it will have more stuff on it than you (Mattias) technically need right now, but it will to be rock solid in every regard, and who knows, you might be glad for all of those ins and outs in the future. It gets my vote.
